I don't think you'd necessarily have to boil the felt Bowen. Maybe just a quick dip in a pot of very hot water to loosen it up. Let us know how you make out.^^^how long do you boil the felt?? I have some that was as thick as they had and i’ll give it i test. I ain’t doing anything anyway.

Haha! If you mean the dye, then you're probably right. Not too long, it takes all the flavor out.

I'm beginning to understand how the good Dr. Frankenstein felt. Gather up the torches.

I am just now getting into millinery. Appreciate all the input in this thread, it's quite helpful. Any suggestions on vendors to buy blocks, tools, and supplies? Thanks
Men’s hats, felt and straw. One style at a time of course, but I’d like to diversify. Are you planning on making mens hats? Fur felt, straw? Westerns, fedoras, both?

I have purchased 15 flanges and one block from Mark (Hatter's Supply House) and can vouch for the quality of work as well as his customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again from him.https://hatterssupplyhouse.com/
Tim at Alley Kat vouches for them and that's good enough for me. One of these days I'm gonna build my own hat, I swear! Other budget priorities keep getting in the way of getting a block and flange set, but when I asked the hive mind about blocks, and Hatter's Supply House, Tim said that he'd been buying from them and they are top notch quality.
