Has anyone tried this cotton/polyester blend grosgrain from AgnoulitaHats on Etsy? I'm sure it's not as good as the old cotton/rayon stuff but I'm wondering if it's workable

I hate being in the same room as polyester. It is stiff and just does not drape well. Guy Morse Brown sells contemporary Brit ribbon- cotton/rayon that is decent. The stuff that Tim is bringing in at PureBeaver is very good.

I know that 100 percent polyester is awful to work with. I'm curious if there's enough cotton content in this stuff to make it usable. The price is tempting enough that I might give it a shot.

Hello Fedora Fans,

I thought that some of you might be interested in some work that Clint & his son Stephen have been doing with hat blocks and brim flanges. They have some nice Cedar to make blocks along with the other wood that they are using. They have also started doing more work with the brim flangs they make with a wide 3" wide brim area with a little more of a curve shape in the flange, the stand has 4 legs with rubber feet. Stephen and Clint have seperate shops on Etsy, you can contact them there or check out their Etsy stores and then contact me for their phone numbers, you can send them a text message and they will respond, talking on the phone might be a challenge because they have their CNC machines running about 12 hours a day.

Stephen's Etsy store is:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/LogTonCustoms
Clint's Etsy store is:

Here is some photos to check out, that maybe of interest.

I received my 2 new 5.5" tall hat blocks with 1/2" spacers so I can make a hat with a 6" open crown and a new flange with a new flange stand, everything created by Clint. If I need more height on my flange stand I have a another piece that I can set the stand on to give the stand more height for a 6" open crown. The 2 flanges may look the same however the new flange has a bit more curve to the shape, both flanges will work with 3" wide brims.
Here is a few photos for you to review.
Have a Great Week,
Darrell

Hello Fedora Fans,

I received a new hat block from Clint a couple of days ago, the block is a 59CM RO made of Cedar. A really nice looking hat block, good size for a 7 1/4" fedora.
If you are interested in new hat blocks made of Cedar, contact Clint or Stephen.
Here ai a few photos of the block.
I am working on a bone color rabbit fedora right now, I have been looking for some grosgrain ribbon rayon cotton 5/8" wide or a little wider for a brim binding in a bone color. Does anyone have any bone color that would match this rabbit felt color?

Have a Great Week,
Darrell

Re: Grosgrain ribbon

Good morning! Was wondering what the latest situation is with rayon/cotton finished edge ribbon is these days.

I have a very small amount of it - all from purchases of vintage stock off eBay or Etsy.

I know that there is (was???) some being woven in either the UK or in Europe, but if I remember correctly, 1.5” was the widest available.

Are there any new sources? Anybody with nice 2” wide ribbon? Stripes or woven patterns?

I do occasionally search on eBay, hoping to find a new source, but nothing new has returned for a while. If anything, the offerings continue to diminish.

Just being curious.

Thanks guys,

-Loren

Yes, any 19 ligne and up is very hard to find. Check out Chris Fernandez on FB or IG Winterpark Hats. He is selling new old stock grosgrain but I think 16 ligne is the widest. But he does have a wide array of colours.
