I asked Art to recreate this Dunlop Duplex.

This is what showed up in my mailbox yesterday.

I am absolutely FLOORED!!!! Art did an absolutely incredible job!!! This is the kind of work that I believe sets Art above other hatters. He recreated a hat that's not only extremely rare, but executed it so perfectly. I have to have one now!

I agree. I think that the dip in the bow, a small detail, makes all of the difference. This hat is something special.

As far as design details go, I would add that reducing the color contrast between the felt and the ribbon also helps.

Art, did great job recreating a hat style from the past. Such a styl'n hat. I can see why it was so popular in the 20's and 30's.
Felt brim fixes the flop panama brim problem and the crown straw against the the brown really makes the hat pop.
Now let's see a gray felt brim right Ale.:)

I know Art is a busy man, but that hat must be added to the gallery on his website.

Say, is that you in your avatar photo with the Bavarian wheat beer? You remind me a lot of Old Time musician Norman Blake sans the glasses (which is a good thing, as Norman is one of my favorite Old Time players). :D

That is me with the Franciskaner glass (reversed, so I am looking into the frame). Hair is longer now, and pulled back.
And though I normally wear glasses, they aren't the vintage, round rims.
and thanks for the compliment! (though I wish I had his talent!)
