I'm going to a military ball this weekend and want to style my hair like Gilda. I have already watched the video by Lisa Freemont, but I want to know if anyone tried it and if they have any advice about what to do and what not to do. How far over to part it.... how curly.... pics of anyone has that's tried it??
Thanks :)

here!
Aaah I would like to know this too! I guess I can't really help much but it looks like she has it parted in line with the bend in her eyebrow. She also looks like she has very thick hair; I wonder if my fine, wispy hair means I could never achieve this exactly :(

The only time I got anything approaching this was using 24 large bendy rollers in my wet, layered shoulder-length hair covered in setting lotion, and slept in. I parted it low like hers in the picture. My hair came out with lovely big, bouncy curls- it did look a fair bit like hers, now that I think about it! The only reason I don't do this more often is cause the bendy rollers are just so uncomfortable :(

Whenever I do may hair vintage and completely down I go for the Rita Hayworth look. Rita's hair pretty much always looked like this. Now mind you I have naturally curly hair so my advice only works for curly hair. But I part my hair right over the arch of my eye brow. It's pretty deep. It makes the side with less hair look like it doesn't even start at the top of my head but rather starts on the side. If that makes since.

If you check out Fleur De Guerre's blog or search on You Tune, she's done a fine little film on how to do 40's hair that would give you the effect you are after.
