Getting a good Sunbody fit

I was wondering if I could get some advice from other Sunbody owners on how to get a good fit. I've been ordering from them lately but just don't seem to have any luck. The first hat I ordered was a 7 5/8; it was snug in the front and bag, loose on the sides, and, if the information given about it shrinking is accurate, it wouldn't have fit my head in a few months. So I mailed it back along with my head measurements, and today got the 7 3/4. This was very loose, and slides down over the tips of my ears; liberal use of foam padding helps the problem a little, but even with shrinkage it's still going to be riding my ears. I need to make this third-time-a-charm; I can't afford to keep mailing hats back and paying for the shipping to my house.

Any advice from anyone?

(FYI, my head is about 23 3/4 in circumference, 1/16 this way or that depending on the weather, and my normal hat size is either 7 1/2 or 7 5/8, depending on the maker).

I wear a 7 1\2, the three hats I recieved from them were at first a little loose.
I dunked the entire hat in water, till it was dripping wet. Then wore it till it was dry.
They fit fine now.

Did you order a 7 1/2, or a 7 5/8?

And how loose was it? As I said in my first post, the 7 3/4 seems more than just a "little" loose.

I ordered a 7 1\2.. all I can remember now was they were loose.
But I am sure everyone is a little different.

I agree about soaking the hat. I wear a 7 5/8 but I'm an extra long oval so it was tight front and rear and loose on sides. Wetting it made it soft enough to conform to the long oval and then wearing it til it dries keeps it that way.

I am a 7 3/8 long oval. I ordered a 7 3/8 and it fit perfectly right out of the box.

I am a 7 5/8, 61cm Long Oval & I went with a 7 3/4, 62cm fedora from Sunbody. I soaked it, literally filled up the utility sink, dunked it under, shaped brim & crown a little, wore it until it dried. It fits like a custom.

Oh yea, I am a dead on 24" melon head, right John???

I'm thinking the sizing is not that exact on them. One just needed to "shape" and one was a little large.
