"Fuzzy" fedora?

Speaking of fuzzy hats, I was watching an old Star Trek episode "A Piece of the Action" (Season 2, episode 17) in which the Enterprise crew try to correct a "contamination" of a society that based itself on a book about 1920s Chicago gangsters. Anyway, I noticed that Kirk (Shatner) had a fuzzy-looking fedora on. The "fuzz" wasn't as prominent as the "fuzzy" topper, but it was noticeable. Was there such a thing, or was it just a really bad prop?
