Up for sale, something I know almost nothing about, except that it's a man's waistcoat, very obviously handmade, dating almost certainly from the last half of the 19th Century. The only identifying mark on it is stamped on the buckle: "Prima France."
It's of some sort of cotton dyed with what looks like indigo, interwoven with rich red silk. The buttons are amazing: very dark blue glass with sapphire glass centers that glow when they catch the light. The lining is fine camel-coloured wook that's beginning to get quite worn. It's quite small: 47cm across the chest from pit to pit.
The colours are much darker and richer than they appear in the photos.
It's difficult to put a price on this. I've had it for years and only ever seen one other piece even remotely like it, so I've priced it relative to that one:
£85 and I'll throw in UK shipping.
I'll entertain any and all offers and also any information would be welcome...
