Here is the ad from when I purchased, everything still in same condition. Only wore the jacket a few times and "too many jackets/not enough time" is reason for selling. This jacket is in excellent condition, no problems, leather is amazing.

Here are the actual measurements of this jacket, given in inches and measured with jacket front snaps fastened and laid flat....

chest (pit to pit) 20 1/2
shoulder 19 1/2
sleeve 24 7/8
front length 23 7/8
rear length 23 1/2
body opening at bottom 17 7/8 (with side adjustors set at the most relaxed setting)

$295 + $18 for shipping.

How does wider shoulder length affect the fit?

I wear a pretty standard off the rack 40. This fits a bit larger through the chest so I can easily layer beneath it. I think it's just how the jacket is designed to fit, roomy through the chest and tapered down through torso.

The leather on this jacket is outstanding. I have a number of Vanson's and only the Chopper has the same type of thickness and feel as this jacket. It's difficult to explain but this version of their leather is substantial and feels amazing. This is going to be one of those jackets I regret selling.

I know it, Monitor knows it, we all know it. Just not enough time to wear.

Congrats on the sale! This jacket looks familiar....;)

The buyer will be pleased. Ksozay did not exaggerate about how special the leather on this jacket is, even compared to the high standards of Vanson. It's an amazing hide.

I was supposed to buy this, stalled @ksozay's sale for too long but had to back out sadly. Needed to direct the funds into something a bit more pressing and a lot more stupid, like fixing the bathroom so I couldn't afford it ATM.

But anyway, just wanna say, I have a jacket made out the same kind of leather - at least I'm fairly sure it's the same thing - and yeah, it's quite possibly the nicest leather I've ever handled. Which is why it kills me I couldn't get this jacket. Chances I'll see one like are extremely slim. Whoever got it ( @Bigbenbs ? ) will be more than happy.

Fixing the bathroom is another term for flushing money down the toilet.

Hard to let that jacket go but deserves to be worn. Maybe we can convince @technovox to sell his. Doesn't he have the octogon one?

I had one, but I sold it a while back...beautiful jacket and beautiful leather. Super heavy and thick. Some of the thickest hide I've worn. Sadly, it just didn't fit me quite right and had to let it go.

But what I understand from others' posts is that Vanson competition weight leather is not what it used to be. So is that where the eulogies are coming from?

Aye. Compared to this leather, Vanson's comp. weight leather hasn't been what it used to be for a long while now. I'm only paying attention to this hide from now on, nothing else.

How does one identify "this hide" vs current competition weight? Like was there year or a serial number cutoff? Also, what's the main differences?

No clue for the first question. The second, it just looks and feels 100x better than most other stuff I've seen. It's heavy, really stiff with completely natural and varying grain and texture. You can even see hair follicles. There's just a perfect amount of shine and it creases like rarely anything I've seen. It also feels like it could withstand an atom bomb blast. That isn't to say that newer Vanson hide isn't as tough but it definitely doesn't look nearly as good. At least to me. I've posted a lot of photos of my jacket in this hide in Leather Trucker thread.

Aaand writing all this just makes me even more sad I didn't get this one. . .

I think it's one of these types of leather you have to feel in order to get a better sense for the special love people have for it. I have a few PLU jackets in comp weight leather and it's just not even close to the Maverick I just sent your way. Doesn't mean the comp weight on my PLUs are poor leather, just not the same thickness and weight.
