I’m offering for sale a beautiful Optimo fedora in medium-weight, dark-gray felt, size 7-5/8. I photographed it in different lighting hoping to accurately capture the true color of the hat. To me, the pictures taken indoors in front of the computer look most like the true color. The outdoor pictures look slightly purple to me, and I can assure you that is not the true color.
I bought this hat from a TFL member about a year ago. Like every Optimo hat I have ever handled, it is amazing. The crown is creased into a teardrop shape, but it is easy to reshape an Optimo hat however you like. The texture of the felt looks like the melusine finish that Optimo offers: the felt is shiny because of all the short hairs which are brushed tightly in one direction. (I can't guarantee it is melusine finish because I've never examined a hat that I knew for a fact had that finish.)
I have only worn the hat a few times and I have finally decided the high-crown, wider-brim hats don’t look right on me. Now that I have purchased a few custom hats made for me to my exact specifications, I never wear this one; that’s a shame for such a gorgeous lid. So it is time for it to move on to a new home.
I’ll give it a few days here before it goes to ebay. Price: $300 + $15 shipping (US). (A brand new hat like this would cost $695 from Optimo.)
Specs:
Size = 7-5/8, long-oval
Crown height = 4-3/4” as creased, 5-3/4” (?) open (not sure I measured that right)
Hat band = Black ribbon, 1-1/2” grosgrain, with bow, no feather
Brim = 2-3/4”, edge bound with matching black ribbon
Sweatband is black leather, gold embossed logo.
Liner is white satin.
