Interesting reproduction M1839 U.S. Army enlisted field cap or "wheel hat." This type of cap was used from 1839 through the Mexican War and even by some in the Civil War. It has a leather visor and chinstrap, and a havelock that buttons at the sides and ties in front, and can be folded down for extra warmth in cold weather. Dark blue wool with leather sweatband and cloth lining. Handsewn button holes. Excellent condition with no damage or flaws. Size is a U.S. 7 3/8.
