Beautiful broken in pair of Clinch Garys in Black OD HB. This pair has some nice grain on it, which is rare for these. They are in great shape and a bit of teacoring is starting to poke through. Size is Clinch 12 US 11. Should work well for Brannock 11, but its best to read details about Clinch sizing before buying blind, if you are unfamiliar. Retailed for $2050, Asking $1595. Clinch Gary Boots are a lightweight beautifully made pair of boots, meticulously crafted, unusual and original in their fussily hand selected EU Horsebutt which is overdyed Black and has similar ageing qualities to Cordovan.
The Gary boots are built on Clinch’s CN-S last which is very shapely and low profile but is slightly wider at the ball of the foot which rounds to a sort of squared off toe. It is a very very comfortable and handsome last and makes the Gary boot a lightweight dream to wear, much like the Yeager boots. The lace to toe design makes them even more versatile for many a shaped foot.
In terms of delivering what the boot connoisseur appreciates in the “workboot/ real boots” marketplace, Clinch boots really do tick all the boxes. They represent the best of the best in small ethical production, all hand made, old world construction, art, beauty and superior materials. Hand cut, sewn (upper, insole & welt), soaked, lasted, nailed, sanded and trimmed all in a small workshop in Tokyo. There is such a lot that goes into each pair.
Leather: The overdyed (tea-core, the brown undertones will start to show through after a lot of wear) European Horsebutt is a mid to heavier weight, light/ mixed grain leather that has been hand selected by Minoru himself to represent and wear like a true vintage pair of engineers. It is a lovely luxurious and tough leather that looks fantastic when shaped and worn in (have a google).
Process: They are hand lasted using wooden lasts which also mean the boots can only be constructed by hand welting them which is a very time consuming and exacting process but also one which can offer unrivalled fit after break in and a truly personal and unique finish.
Materials: Clinch are extremely particular about all aspects of their boots and sourcing of the right materials is just as detailed and time consuming as the making. The majority of components are sourced from Japan whereas the leathers have been carefully selected from specific specialist tanners around the World.

Clinch boots are sized this way: 8.5 UK/9 US/ 10 Clinch Size. The 9 US in length feels very similar to the below but there is less overall volume throughout but are fine in width at the ball of the foot: Clinch boots are sized this way: 8.5 UK - 9 US - 10 Clinch Size.
