Aero Leather Clothing Custom STF Bootlegger, size 38.
Horween CXL steerhide (very thick 4oz, about 1.8mm) in brown. Nice bit of mole skin in the handwarmer pockets. Still stiff and stands well.
Custom extras, has an extra "ticket pocket" to the front and instead of strapped cuffs I requested zipped sleeve cuffs (as jacket was used on my bike occasionally).
The lining is to my spec also - I went with the tartan lining from Locharron Tartan weavers, a clan Farquason tartan (which I have loose lineage with).
All up, this jacket currently retails at 715 GBP and with my custom details it cost 815 GBP. (This does not include the 15% paid in customs tax to bring it in to New Zealand. So it cost me more. All up it was a $1800 NZD jacket).
I had the jacket made in 2018. I wore it everyday for 6 months before I would consider it fairly broken in. It is 4oz leather and it weighs about 4.5kg so it is a meaty leather. Although purists reckon the Talon zippers are the best going, the zip wasn't grunty enough to pull the super thick leather in and so failed after about a year and I got a meatier YKK main zip. I send it with the original and if you want to fit that again, you can.
I'd also say, despite Locharron weave tartans being touted as amazing quality, the bottom hem has started to fray after about a year also, and when I told Holly the reply was kinda "well...yeah. It's a lining and it is soft and not hard wearing. That kinda happens" which I thought was a bit dismissive and not what everyone says about their service (lifetime warranty etc etc. Maybe it was a bad day).
In slightly less than four years I've worn this jacket only a few hundred times. Some folk will say it isn't fully broken in yet (but at least I can actually bend in it, which I couldn't when new!). Seems to be a lot of folk selling jackets "hardly worn" that look waaaaay more creased than this one, suspicously. Anyway, this one looks better than those and I wore it a lot for the first couple of years (3/4 of the time?) and in the last two years I've worn it maybe 50 times. Dunno. It's been worn maybe 500 times. I don't hang it btw; it gets laid on top of the drawers so it doesn't lose its shape. But I've put on weight, and it was a slim fit 38" which is now a little TOO slim!!
I still have all the invoices, receipts etc.
Holly had done all the correspondence to work out the details, Sam had worked out some cutting details, it was made by Sahv and packed by Mark.
Measurements as follows. Bear in mind this is an STF (slim fit) and I requested the jacket be made to me with the following dimensions at the time:
Size 38" with dimensions as noted when it was made as per the instructions from Aero to measure myself correctly:
Sleeves 25"
Back 25.5"
Relaxed chest 38.5". Expanded chest 39.5" (yes, it's a 38")
Stomach 35"
Waist 37" (strangely I wear a 34" trouser)
If you are near these dimensions it will fit you. If you are slightly smaller it will fit you better. I would say if you can fit in a 36" this will fit you nicely, if you wear a 38" it will be a snug fit.
$900 NZD + freight. (That's $590 USD, or about £465 GBP plus freight)
