I am selling my Aero AN-J-3 Jacket. It is basically a USN flight jacket mixed with an A-2, without the fur collar. Or, a mix between a Half Belt and an A2.
This jacket was made in January 2014. It was a custom ordered jacket with the rarer A2 style storm flap (different from the standard ANJ-3 offered by Aero). This jacket has hardly been worn; I intended it as a lightweight jacket but the goatskin proved to be a bit thicker than ideal for the climate where I live (Southern USA where snow is a 4-letter word and one is 200 times more likely to get sunburn than frostbite). By the time it gets cool enough to wear this, I find I prefer other jackets instead. This jacket is still a long way from being broken in.
It is tagged a size 46, but is long as I am 6'3" tall with long torso. Measurements posted below. Normally I wear a 42L or 44L and this fits well. This design is a bit more trim than the A-2 jacket and other styles I have seen and worn from Aero in the past.
The hide is seal goatskin (with russet tones underneath) and the lining is khaki poplin. Japanese Talon repro zipper. USN style waist knit and Aero standard cuff knit (both dark brown although they look lighter in some of the photos). Buttoned pockets as per ANJ3 specs, and a repro label in the collar.
The leather on the underside of the cuffs shows mild wear (the faint whispers of a future patina), and there is a scratch in the leather at the collar (didn't notice this at first, but it came that way from the maker and I have to look for it to even notice). Comes from a smoke free environment.
Dimensions measured:
Sleeve length from shoulder seam to end of knit cuff: 26"
Back length (not including collar) 26.5" including knit
Pit to pit is difficult to measure because I'm not used to the underarm gussets, but it looks like 26" back and 23" front (pleats may have opened slightly when measuring the back)
Shoulder 20" (also difficult to measure due to the pleats in the back)
Asking $725 with postage included in the USA. Retails for £575 new. For those interested outside the USA, I will need to determine postage with a visit to the nearest friendly postal clerk.
