After gaining some weight since I bought a size 36 Chopper a few years ago, I have been on the lookout for a 38, not wanting to spend full price for a new one from Thurston Bros. I recently bought a medium (40) with brass hardware from a Lounge member and decided it was a bit too large. It hit me that I could just buy the size I really need (38) from Thurston Bros and sell these two to make up the money.
I’m bummed to sell these, as both are better in leather quality and craftsmanship than the one I’m keeping, but size and fit trumps everything else in this case.
Jacket #1 - size 36
- $600 + shipping of buyer’s choice, PayPal Friends and Family
- Thurston Bros. version with nickel hardware and rayon lining
- Absolutely beautiful jacket in like new condition
- This is an excellent batch of comp weight leather. Thick but supple and doesn’t have a finish that chips and cracks, like I’ve seen on some Vanson comp weight jackets
- The one alteration I made was to punch additional holes in the side adjuster straps to allow more nuanced fitment. I have proper leather crafting tools, so used a hole punch to add an additional hole between each of the standard holes. Before this, each waist adjustment brought it in or out two whole inches. Now it can be adjusted in one inch increments
Jacket #2 - size medium
- $500 + shipping of buyer’s choice, PayPal Friends and Family
- Brass hardware with rayon lining
- Great condition, soft and broken in, very comfortable
- More noticeable wear than the other jacket, but only at high friction seems as would be expected
- One stitch on the quilting has come undone a few stitches. Shown in photo. Was like this when I bought it and hasn’t loosened further
- I am at the 10 image max, and will post remaining photos in comments
