Hello,
Up for grabs is this 1950s California Sportwear police jacket in horsehide. This jacket has become iconic, and its pattern has been reproduced by the Real McCoys (the Mulholland jacket) among others. No surprise as this pattern is truly stunning. I'm selling this one as I actually have this exact jacket in steerhide in a slightly different size which fits me better.
This jacket is a must have, in my opinion. Truly a pleasure to wear - lighter weight, breathable, and an amazing modern sleek fit to it. Esteemed member and collector Terry Mitchell has a few videos showcasing these jackets but in steerhide -

The leather is overall good on this piece - no significant cracking, no flaking, etc. The lining is overall good, no tearing, just some loose threads. The jacket has a few stitching issues (only along the seams), as pictured. Under one armpit, a few under the back collar area, and a couple loose threads under one epaulette. I've actually seen another California police which had these couple loose stitches in the same exact areas, so it seems these are just prone to wear. Price has been reflected for this. I'm not an expert, but the rest of the seams appear good and sturdy.
Vintage tag says 40, but please refer to the actual measurements listed below (and pictured)
Pit to pit: 20"
Shoulder to shoulder: 17.4"
Sleeve (measured straight from shoulder to cuff): 24"
Back length from bottom of collar: 22.9"
Front length: 24"
Bottom hem (uncinched, could perhaps go wider if you remove the laces: 18.5"
The pockets are intact (albeit missing the pulls), original main zip, no foul odors, original tag intact. Price is 225 shipped (OBO) in the continental U.S. (PayPal friends and family).
Please let me know if you have any questions.
