Yes, well, it closes with the three leather straps, so it doesn't have a snap closure if that's what you mean. The upper edge does have the metal plate enhancement of a Gladstone on each side built into the leather, along the length of the bag. There is an overlap of some extra leather at the closure that makes the bag reasonably rainproof when closed.
