Hi,

I suppose you know some movies such as

-Memphis Belle
-The battle of England (RAF)
- the fly boys

In these movies you have short clips of men wearing Irvin jacket during a few time.

Do you know the movie "Hell Drivers" with Stanley Baker . Look at Stanley Baker wearing his beautiful Irvin Jacket! You see him nearly throughout the movie.

The movie in black and White and it is pity that this movie is not colored. let'us imagine what effect if this movie was colored and the Honey-Irvin Jacket will be more realistic.

Have a nice pleasure.

Stanley Baker's Irvin is an original electrically wired jacket made by Irvin Air Chute and it dates from around 1940.

There are some strange Irvins in the BoB film, which look as if they were made by the costume department. Yet there were plenty of originals around in the 1960s which could be bought up cheaply.

There are two Memphis Bell films, the 1943-4 documentary and the 1990 "spin-off". The first features original B-3s, not Irvins and the later inaccurate repro B-3 style jackets and again no Irvins!

However there are wartime photos of Irvins being worn by USAAF bomber crew serving in the 8th AF in England.
