Went to the Casino in Upstate NY , walk in with my Drak Gray Fedora , from Dave Brown Hats.
The question most people ask me is ( I wish I could look good with a hat on )
I tell people you can , the only reason they don,t have a hat is because they think they will look bad . A Fedora changes your whole Attitude and appearance. I tell people "try it you will like it"

See Yaaaaaaaaaaa

Tinman, I'm so glad you brought this up. I never would have considered wearing a fedora until I tried one on at a hat store in Quebec just a few years ago. That was my first fedora purchase. I love that hat, a chocolate brown, 100% rabbit fur. Five years and 8 fedoras later, I'm forever hooked!

I tell people to buy a fedora they like and to wear it around the house in the privacy of their home. Wear it till they get used to the hat as a natural extention of the body...then you won't feel so self conscious when you step out with the hat.

Having put on my first fedora about a month ago, I had to do the same thing with the walking around the house. It always felt like a novelty but now not having it on my head feels odd. My biggest challenge since then is to find an ensemble to wear with it! I don't want to wear a suit (I only have 1 an it's a hand me down from my father) around campus everyday and I don't want to wear shorts a t-shirt with it either. I've found when it gets a little chillier I can wear a nice black leather jacket I have with a collared shirt and jeans. When I sling my backpack over my shoulder it looks like I'm going off exploring instead of to the engineering building! Although it looks dapper when I decide to take the suit out for a spin too :)

Sincerely,
Rob

It is hard in Florida, since the state is also generally under-dressed. And, we have no need most of the time for long-sleved clothes, which look best with one.
