Federation IV coloring

Well, as many of you know my dearest friend, ol' Federation III is starting to develop a hole in her crown. I honestly just need a replacement and obviously the Fed IV is looking like the way to go.

I understand that the Fed IV is using a different felt. I've heard fro somewhere that the standard brown of the Fed IV is more like the Deluxe brown of the Fed III - if anyone remembers that debate.
The standard Fed III had an almost greyish tint to it, whereas the Deluxe III reportedly had a reddish, Indy tint.

I've heard that the old reddish tint has been carried on to the new Standard, or at least, something similar to it. Is this right?

I've had the Adventurer and I now have the Fed IV. I can tell you that the felt was pretty much the same Imperial Quality as Akubra provides for other Imperial quality hats, so you'll know you'll still be getting an Akubra.
The color however is "different" I've never had a Fed III but I'm very happy with the color of the Fed IV. No matter where I am and the lighting around me, myself and others know that it is a brown hat. You will not be dissapointed. Good Luck

I'm a member at COW (the red-headed Indy fan step brother of the Lounge). Based on what I've read there, the new color on the standard Fed IV almost kills the need for the Fed IV Deluxe, unless you're in love with the deluxe felt. However, I'm also reading that deluxe felt has a better pounced finish that the old Deluxe. So both have been improved to address the main complaints about them.

COW is such a great resource when it concerns all things Indy...and knowing the Fed IV(both reg and deluxe) are both meeting the needs, is good news!.
I still need to get a Fed....
