A year or so back I was clearing Dads house out up in Knoxville, Tn. and found his western hat crushed in a box with a VCR and a pile of boots on top. I got it cleaned, de-dented, stretched so I could wear it, reblocked, and trimmed over 2" off the brim (it was a monsterousl large 4-3/4" brim). Now its usable as a sort of 2-3/4" brim Justified hat. I also found a Champ and a Knox that belonged to his Dad that were actually in decent shape. Was thrilled to see that Im the same hat size as my Grandfather! Still tracking down my other Grandfathers hats if they still exist (there has been a lot of house cleaning on the old family farm over the last 40 yrs and I fear they may have dissappeared)
Its a true thrill and joy to go out in public in a heirloom hat!
