In the November 2010 issue of Vanity Fair. Page 106, a new book is profiled.
One Lesley M M Blume suggests such things as Hunphrey Bogart, headscarves, The Stork Club, umbrellas, radio dramas and typewriters should be brought back.

I wonder if author Blume did research here at The Fedora Lounge?

"Lets Bring Back: An Encyclopedia of Forgotten-Yet-Delightful Chic, Useful, Curious and Otherwise Commendable Things From Times Gone By" is the ponderous title.

Anyone seen this book?

There were also other pages chatting up "retro."

Scotrace, you can not "Patent" nostalgia and make it your own brand.
I agree. Each one of us in this forum, as well as many others out there, embrace the concept of bringing back all the great things that have been lost over there years. But it is people that values these things, thats what brought us to this forum. Without peoples individuals desires, there would be no forum.

Points well taken. It continues to fuel the trend, which is a good thing.
The Fedora Lounge occupies a strong position among the admirers of the culture of The Greatest Generation.

I didn't know it, but apparently that's a collection of columns from a recurring feature at Huffington Post. Looks interesting enough -- I might check it out.

I bought the book and have enjoyed my quick perusals of it so far.

I also met and chatted with Ms. Blume at one of her book events and found her quite intelligent and engaging. She's definitely a kindred spirit with us Loungers. I'm going to do an interview with her for Cladrite Radio, so I've set up a thread so that those who might wish to offer a question for her might do so. (The thread will remain for future such Golden Era-related interviews, too -- I've got a couple of more good ones in the works -- and any other writers in the Lounge who are conducting GE-related interviews should feel free to use the thread, too.)
