Hello, I just wanted to clarify to provide accuracy to some comments. That color Bill has is a pure blue Fepsa stock color and was made for me specifically so I could change the type of blue I was using in my signature colors such as the fully bespoke Fepsa blue-grey felts. I have to provide physical swatches to Fepsa for them to make colors for me. The formal blue in the grey was a light sea blue, and now it is more of a Royal Air Force Blue. The stock blue order was created so I would dye the new blue shade/hue felt order with grey dye and send it back to Fepsa. Bill and Max's hats were two blue hats I did not dye. The hats was made last minute
before I took a trip to Canada 3 years ago not 20. I did not have time for the brims to be properly sanded down evenly before I left to the airport. The felt and hat is only a few years old and was worn in the winter of Canada including the wilderness.

Here is a picture of a hat I blocked properly and the brim done evenly. No quick rush. Color is bespoke and not a stock color.

I try to keep very accurate records on my collections. I just looked in my fedora database. This was the original text from the FaceBook post selling the hat I bought.

“I am selling a used fedora in 100% Beaver Belly Fur in very good condition from my personal collection in 7 1/8 in Slate Blue. Ultra low price since I need the cash and I rarely ever wear this one. No stains. PM me for offers or price.”

I had not heard about Fespa so I asked about them versus Winchester. Here is Nick’s reply.

“The fur used is the same fur used on Optimo's 1000 range. In my opinion about the quality of dress hat weights the Fepsa beaver felt is vastly superior to Winchester. Also, from seeing Winchester felts for over a decade Fepsa has much better quality control. My hats are completely handmade including the liner sweat and bound edge is done by hand. (No Machine) I worked with Fepsa to create a felt that feels and handles like a Pre-War Dunlap.”

I asked if the hat was new or vintage since it was from his personal collection. Nick’s reply...

Neither - about 20 years.”

I’m only posting this to help Nick’s memory.

No matter about the age - it’s still one of my favorite hats. It’s also one of the most complemented.
