Just a question regarding the ELC Rangoon shirt, is the shirt true to size eg. collar size 17 inch is the same as a 17" collar on any modern day regular shirt or tighter, also same for the body fit.

Any info appreciated.......:)

Consider the shirt true to size, but also that it is a 'fitted' shirt. It is not blousy like your average off-the-rack shirt, but has a trimmer more tailored fit.

I have the dark green one.
Collar size is good but as Mike says,
it's a "fitted shirt"- shoulders may be a tad narrower
than you're used to and the body has a little taper toward
the waist.

Really quite a good, period shirt,
with all the details of a commercially offered Officer shirt.

I'm all for it.

Made in China, I think...;)

Sorry to Necropost but I’m interested in more info on this shirt.

Those who have the Rangoon by ELC, how drastic is the tapper? Also how is the length of the arms? My WWII IMP is a 17/36 and the arms and neck fit very well, under the arms it’s a bit funny though.

My Rangoon (chocolate green 17x35) fits trimly but comfortably around my (38") waist. There's zero blouse, tho - in fact it "skirts" out noticeably at the shirttail, making it unsuitable to wear tail-out. A minor difficulty in a beautifully made garment. I particularly like it over a turtleneck on cold days.

The collar is dead on at 17". I find the sleeves just a touch long.

Fletch,
Thanks for the info. I'm guessing with my 40in waist it won't be a good fit for me. This makes me a sad person. :(

It's not that fitted, really. I took mine in more at the waist. I have the size with a 15" neck and the armpit to armpit measurement is approximately 20", across the waist at the belt level was approximately 18" when new. I took a couple more inches out of it and it looked better IMO. It does have a waist, as others have noted.

I was comparing with a "normal", contemporary dress shirt, with endless shoulders and chest, when mentioning fitted-ness andtaper- rather than an original USArmy officer shirt, or other vintage shirt.

Just to be clear- more or less.
