Thanks for the heads up on that Stand By. Did you say in an earlier post that you are going to Duxford?

Ebay Hacked

According to news sources ebay has been hacked...

The online auction and sales giant eBay posted a message Wednesday morning saying that it had been hacked, urging all of its members to change their passwords.

The company said in a statement that a database containing encrypted passwords had been breached, but that financial data, including credit card information, was stored separately and was still safe.

Again??! I just changed my passwords because of that "Heartbleed" thing. Now this. Probably Russian hackers this time, trying to get back at the world.
According to the article, they can access all of our personal information even if we change passwords again. The probable goal being identity theft.

And it says to change all your associated passwords too - esp. if you use the same password in other sites ...

And yes, I am! With an un-compromised credit card (I hope!). Can't wait. Who knows what I'll come away with out of Gary's tent ....!
And I've decided to start my visit at my old stomping ground in Northampton, so I'll be making a wee pilgrimage just up the road to RAF Chelveston to look in on the old 364th BS base - now a wind farm (tut!), I gather. Apparently there's a new memorial there that I'd like to see ...

Good call. eBay is saying that PayPal wasn't compromised, but changing passwords is never a bad idea.

If as the article states the information was hacked in February and March, there is all that hacked information out there waiting to be used for fraudulent purposes. Changing passwords now is a moot point. As an emotional reaction, I'll probably change mine..

The best practice is to keep a daily check of your credit card/banking information.

eBay has apparently known about this for some time but said and done nothing - I see that their stock is now down as as result of the news and I can only assume that they were hoping to hold on to their profits for as long as possible (are we at the end of a financial quarter?) ...???
I've been busy changing all my passwords - and because there are so many, I have to keep track of them all in a wee notebook. I'd like to see someone hack that !

Changed our eBay account password a few times lately. Had our Pay Pal account hacked not long ago, by someone living in Russia. Pay Pal has had issues with this, but seems less open to admit it and certainly not letting the public know if it.
