Eastman A2 Slender - Collar fit?

Hi Everyone,

maybe you can help me with this little Problem:

After selling one of my Eastman A2s (the other one is still for sale here at the lounge, by the way;)), I am considering going for a new jacket. But this time I am planning to go for a more slim fitting A2 than the standard Eastman cut. Therefore I ended up with two alternatives:

1) The Eastman A 2 "slender" model, which overall looks very nice to me. I especially like the shape of the pocket flaps, the leather and the general quality, which I now from my past experiances is perfect at Eastman.

2) The 38-1711-P model from Aero Leather, which is stated to be a very trim fitting A 2 model. On this jacket, I especially like the high Standing, shirt-like collar.

Normally I would not hesitate to go for the Eastman "slender" model. My only problem is that on my "normal" Eastman A2s, the collar tended to sit / fall flat above the collar-bone area, which I don´t really like that much. In my opinion a high standing collar looks much better on an A2. I hope you can understand what I am talking about.

Now I would like to know how the collar is sitting on the "slender" model from Eastman. Does it lay flat or does it stand up a bit? I know there are a handful of pictures of this particular type of jacket on this forum, but from these I cannot really make a decision regarding the collar.

So, maybe you can provide me with some experiences or pictures of the way the collar of this particular jacket sits when wearing it? You would help me a lot in making my decision.

Thank you and best regards,
Stefan.

Hi Mate,

I have a Slender Eastman (Size 42) in the classified at the moment. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a collar stand which I think means it will lay flat. I can check when I get home and let you know.

Hi Gerry,

thank you. I have seen your post in the classified. The Eastman "Slender" definately does not have a collar stand. But I am not sure if that is the only reason for the collar to stand or lay flat. From my experience, Eastman has tailored their jackets (at least the regular ones) quite short around the fore part of the collar. That means there is basically not enough material for the collar to rise up. The Position of the snap down buttons are also consistent with this, as they also hold the collar in the flat positon.

Greetings, Stefan.

hi Stefan, I was just in the process of messaging you basically what you sent me. I have two Eastmans, on with a stand and one without. Both sit in a very similar position. I also have an Aero A2 which has no stand but sits in a position I think you want. No idea why although my Aero is a thicker Vincenza hide?

Hi Garry,

I guess it is mainly a question of the general design of the jacket. A while ago I had the opportunity to try a Aero "Bronco". It also hat a high collar, even without the collar stand (as far as I remember).

Thank you and best regards,
Stefan.
