Early 50s Donegal tweed Hollywood jacket. Size 40-42

Here's an amazing jacket (pics to come). It is made of a dark brown Donegal tweed. There are 4 buttons down the front, 2 flapped hip patch pockets, and - quite incongruously - an interior "poacher's" pocket at the right hip. Very weird detail for such a jacket. It's partially lined. It doesn't have a belt and never did. Single piece back panel. It's gotta be early 50s, i'd say. The label reads: Skyline Hobnobber men's Wear, Inc. 100% Wool Seattle, U.S.A. Inside the right outer hip pocket is an old version of the as yet un-dateable shaking hands UGWA union label. The label also has printed "Duck Goods" which is a little weird.

When judging the measurements, remember this has no shoulder pads, and i've usually seen them worn blousy in the body and quite snug in the shoulders.

It's quite light so shipping to the US should come in at under £7.50. But actual price to be determined. PM with interest, please.

Chest: 22 1/2"
Shoulder: Just a wee bit under 18"
Length: 28 5/16"
Arms: 23 1/2"

I need some sort of surgical procedure to reduce my shoulder width so I can fit into these great clothes.

Interesting. As a seattlite, I see Skyline jakkets on a regular basis. All the ones I have seen are all about the same. dark patterned nice fabric, square hip pockets, nice lounge jacket style from the mid to late fifties.

Usually they just have the skyline label. I am curious to see pics of this.

I sold a very large size on ebay recently. I forgot to put pics for a few days or description. Just size. I guess the buyer in the UK went on my feedback and his knowledge of the brand and did a buy it now. I offered to send pics several times before he committed to purchase, but he never replied so I just sent it. He loved it.

Great quality stuff and quite nice style that fits into a modern wardrobe well.

:eek:fftopic: Hahahahaha!lol lol I'm gonna have to use that one sometime.

I have two teenaged daughters, GWD. I have the cleanest shotgun hanging over my front door. Very cliche, I know. And when my oldest daughter's boy thing comes in, I commence to sitting on the couch with the rods and the rags. Shiniest 12 gauge you ever did see.

The boy and I have an understanding. That and he knows my wife and I are both in Law Enforcement.

He's a good boy...;)

Now back on topic. Sorry for the derail!

Hello rikrdo!

:eek:fftopic: Enjoy being the center of your daughter's heart while you can. Because somewhere between age 11 and 12 on both of mine, I officially became a "dork" in both of my daughters' eyes. *sigh* I can't even drop them off at friends' houses or in front of their schools anymore for fear of sheer embarrassment. My glory days of "Dad can do no wrong" are over. Oh well. I have the memories. The sweet, sweet memories...

RJ:)
