Soooo...its for pimps that are dressing for church? lol I guess pimps need churchgoin more than most...so maybe so! ;-)

I understand what he's trying to do with his title, but the illiteracy level of Ebay sellers can be absolurely astounding.

Spelling grammer and syntax, oh my!

Spelling is not my forte, and if you read my posts as I get enthusiastic I tend to leave out important words, so I usually re-read before posting. Often. I have to return to edit it later. Proofing you own stuff can be difficult.

BUT! On e-bay alot of people just wing it! The spelling is sometimes hilarious! The grammer and syntax astounding and the descriptions can be puzzling. I think I'd try to write up what I wanted first in WORD and let the puter catch as many mistakes as possible before trying to wing it doing straight entry on the fly for an Ebay ad.

For Ebay and fedoras, I marvel at the number of people that don't list the size. Some descriptions just fail me like "gangsta" what is this compulsion to mis-spell everything?

Seller also has a couple of other hat's he/she is selling. One, which looks like a cheapie Aussie hat, is described as gangster and church.

Seller is probably trying to think of every kind of category people might pull up to search. Maybe there are people out there who, when looking for a hat, will type in "pimp" or maybe even "church" on the search engine. Who knows?
Gangster would seem a better choice but none of those hats looked the part, so ignorance rules here.

I have seen sellers on ebay describe little plaid bucket hats as Indiana Jones or fedora or gangster...

Ad writing How To's?

I wish there was a way to set up a guide for the uninitiated in hats. If you punch in Fedora in the search box and select the clothing group, you wll get a long list of hats. But what hats? Bowlers, derbys, homburgs, cowboy, buckets and even crochet hats all using the term Fedora as a part of a catch all phrase. Oh well, the best is when you can turn a negative into a positive.

A Mediocre picture and a poor description sometimes means others pass up a good catch and you can luck out with a low bid for a fine hat.

I just wish they'd put the size in the "title" it sure would simplify searches.

Gangster, ok I see the reference, but pimp just is not my cup of tea. Seller's descriptions we may see in the future: Pederast Hat, Molester cap, Sociopath dress hat, Brutal Ignoramous furfelt, and Vicious Terrorist Fedora.

I just love when people use the "NOT" scheme to catch your Ebay search. If you're doing a car search they have: "Not Chevy, Not Pontiac, Not Buick, Not Cadillac" So now you get dragged into wading thru stuff you weren't looking for. In fountain pens: "Not Montblanc, Not Pelikan, Not Parker, "Genuine Piece o poop brand" Looking FOR Montblanc, Pelikan or Parker and you have to wade thru this malicious idiot's listings.

NOT (insert well known brand name here). NOT Stetson, Not Dobbs, Not Mallory, Not Bosalino, Really crummy, badly treated and stored hat for sale. Not Beaver, Not Fur felt. Not worth buying.

It's like pop up ads on the computer, even if I wanted what your selling, I would refuse to buy it from your pop up ad simply on pricipal alone.

Not Happy with the present state of affairs with ebay sellers.

I type in the size ( 7 1/8) on my ebay search and check that it includes title & description. It will pull up other sizes if the seller mentions seven in one place and 1/8 in another, but it certainly does limit the number of hats to search.

The only thing it excludes will be the hat in which the seller does not mention size.

In vintage hats it seems the fur felt shrinks a bit, I wear a 7-1/8th also but older hats just seem tight, they have shrunk a little.

So I am open to 7-1/4 hats. If they turn out to be a little big, it is fairly easy to shim it under the sweat band.
