I just saw a RRL jacket in this exact pattern on ebay only it was reversible. I don't know anything more about it, though, I'm afraid.

Yes, not just based on an RRL jacket that IS an RRL jacket with the label pasted out.

I can't help but look at that design and think how much better Thedi would do it . . .
I think I've seen this RRL jacket in the flesh some time ago. The leather was quite underwhelming and it didnt look like the jacket in the advertisement. Which is often the case with rrl. Would you say the following jackets are one and the same?

No, not at all Marc. I think RRL is ridiculously priced given the average quality hides they use and their distressing is bloody awful.
Agreed.
So why do I own this one? I wanted a cossack style simply because I didn't have one yet but I didn't like the clean look like the Himel heron for instance. I think Thedi's washed cossacks look best but I wasn't planning on spending the money on a thedi.
Then I came across this rrl which I was able to buy for a couple of hundred (instead of €2000 full retail which is absolutely ridiculous). The RRL was ok to still my hunger for a cossack. But now that a Thedi cossack is coming my way, the RRL will be listed on eBay.

RRL is disgusting. Mediocre quality, pretending to have "heritage" and saying "ethically imported" while Ralph Lauren is infamous for using factories that are guilty of human rights violations.

I have no real affection for RRL as a brand and it's been a pretty constant criticism that their stock photos don't match their sold products. I'm sure you could bring a lot of life out of your cossack with a slight coating of beeswax though. Worked a treat on my old Penney's jacket.

Maybe it will benefit from some weeswax but I think I'd rather sell it. It will never become a looker. I think I can easily sell it for double the money I have into it because RRL stuff does have a pretty big following. Let's use those funds to buy a real jacket.

Side note: this RRL jacket's leather does come pretty close in terms of temper to the original 30's cossack I had. Just as lightweight and flimsy and it has the same sandpaper touch. So if period correctness is what they were after, they succeeded with this jacket.

Yeah...It seems like they take their distressing pretty far and then it doesn't make sense to use expensive leather either I guess. Having tested these already I would guess you're pretty excited for your new Thedi?

Man I can't wait for my Thedi to arrive. The jacket I bought (and sold) earlier this week was a good reminder of how good Thedi's jackets really are.
Last winter I actually drove to Germany to one of Thedi's stockists so I could try one of their cossacks. It was a great fit OTR, but I didn't buy it back then because it had a zipper and I really want one with buttons. Yes I'm stoked :D

I saw this exact design selling for something around GBP200 on Etsy. I think it was somewhere in Pakistan was offering it. They had a few designs looked really nice, but I was suspicious as to whether they were *really* the product of the seller offering them. All too often, if something looks too good to be true, it's because it is.

I’ve seen this RLL knock off in pictures around the net like many others and this one did happen to catch my eye for some reason the color , the fading, then when I looked a little closer in the add they said it was a final closeout of their last 3X size and the price was closer to 150 but I figured if it was really a close out he would be willing to go less and I really only want to pay up to $100 including shipping which was from England so I figured I would take A shot on this jacket . After I saw the measurements would work. So I mailed the seller an offer stating if you could get me the price for $100 us approximately , because it was also priced in pounds, that I would buy the Jacket he had responded immediately that he could refresh the jacket price by reducing the shipping and that way it would be approximately $100 I want to say around 79 pounds when all was said and done with the final price I believe was $104 with some tax or fee . Royal mail is their mail but I didn’t know what class or anything and when I got the payment receipt from eBay and it said that the shipping shall arrive, and I want to say between January 1 and February 4 so I scratched my head but I figured what the heck. Then I noticed once they did already dispatch the jacket, and the next day that you know it was moving through an air mail system very quickly towards New York

I wanted to get the jacket because I have been looking at real cheap jackets on Ali express and eBay and I dabbled in ordering a couple of items not leather jackets, and was disappointed with the quality so on eBay I figured I’d take a shot at this jacket l, it’s a nice cool old style, all right we’ll
see and I’ll see , you know what is the going value for a $100, on eBay for premade Pakistani Jacket, but hey I would like to wear it and see what it looks like and wears like. Well it came in here very fast royal air to usps maybe four days. I opeNed it and did actually it smelled leathery and did look quite a lot like the picture exception different being it originally had a check plaid lining on the original picture from RRL. I’ve had some FiveStars. And this is not that . This is more mass produced thin leather mall quality: but it was the right size, a new color for me first time . When I was trying it on wife said “Oh I like that one looks good,” so I guess it’s a keeper . Lightweight windbreaker type leather with pockets newsboy
