How do you ladies display your pretties? Or do you store them all in the closet, etc?

I have a few dress forms and a mannequin. The seamstress who made my wedding dress called me to see if I wanted her manni, said she was a vintage one from the 40's!!! I was SOOO excited! But alas, when I went to pick her up it was NOT 40's, but a 7ft tall gangly 70's chick. Oh well. I will make her work. Have to give her a new do!

I want to order a bust from decoeyes,
http://www.decoeyes.com/
They are just gorgeous!! I think I like Lily best, with blue eyes.

As for jewelry and such, I have a vanity/dressing table. But our bedroom is a mess right now and I want to paint soon, so it's not set up like I want it to be. We'll also be knocking out the closet that was not original and putting an armoire in there. I have 4 1/2 armoires, no closets here after this last one is out!

I bought this huge candlelabra wall thingie that I'm going to spray paint and hang hats on, holds six if I remember right.

Have tons of hankies and gloves to display. I have a few great gloveboxes. Any hanky ideas?

Would love to see pics or hear your ideas gals!

I have everything in my wardrobe, half of my husband's closet, a Queen Anne bench I tend to throw yesterday's corset over, a drawer in my husband's dresser, and a lingerie chest. I tend to hang items on coathangers and display them (notably a black shirt I loved the look of, but don't like wearing) that showcases my talent that I got tired of dragging out everytime someone wanted to see a sample of my sewing.

I have some of the better clothing I don't wear in a steamer trunk most of them came from, including most of the good clothes I didn't part with when I got put on steriods and gained a ton of weight, that usually doubles as a coffee table, but cirrently is in storage, along with my cedar chest

I would love one of those vintage "busts". That's just what i'd like to display my hats. I love going to antique shops and furniture/homeware places. Unfortunately, money and space can be a be a problem sometimes.:(

Haha, this thread is so not about what I thought it would be about.

I don't really have the means to display anything, but I do have a pretty jewelry box to house my trinkets. My clothes and shoes stay in the closet.

I ran out of room. The laundry basket is full of clean, folded clothes, but we can't put them away because there is no more room. @_@

(I really need a big dresser or somehting for xmas. Or maybe another closet. I already took mine and the hall closet, and for awhile I used my fiance's closet but he asked for it back so I moved out of it and now all my other stuff is folded in the laundry basket.)

My dress forms are each wearing an outfit. My mom sent me some dresses and I had no place to put them, so I just dressed the forms. I have a dozen vintage hats that need to go back to ebay. I got really excited about them and bought them in a fit of obsession with vintage hats, then they arrived and I remembered why I don't have hats. I've got a 24" head. My hats are for a 21" or 22" head. (I *really* don't want to let the red velvet turban go!) I've tried everything I can think of, and they just don't work. I kept coming out with them perched precariously on top of my giant melon, and my fiance laughs and laughs. But they're on top of the bookshelves. They're not on heads, because the heads all have wigs on them.

BV - has too much ----.

How much do those Deco Eyes manniquins usually cost. I am in love with them!

But alas! No prices on the Website!

Gosh, that's what I was wondering as well! They are fantastic! I would love to have some to display some of my WWII hats.

Honestly, most of my vintage stuff is in 2 closets in our house. What was previously our office is now the "war department" and the closets are full of our uniforms, helmets, etc. I have a few vintage hat stands in there, and we have both of our footlockers with all our little personal goodies laid out. Pretty much all our reenactor gear, and the room is decorated in a WWII theme with sweetheart pillow covers on the couch and a women's services recruiting posters on the wall. I also have a 1930s English wardrobe in the guest bedroom (also decorated 1940s) that contains all of my civilian vintage - dresses, coats, shoes, bags, gloves, etc. But, I'm rapidly outgrowing that!

BOSTON! LETS GO PATRIOTS!!!
I don't really have the space to display my things. However, given the fact that the 2 closets in my bedroom and the hall closet downstairs is packed full of "stuff" I have piles of clothes and things all over my room, so I guess you could say that some of my clothes are on display:p!

I've been looking for decorative hat boxes, actually found quite a few nice ones at Home Goods, Marshalls and TJMaxx. I'd like to find ones that are in consecutive sizes so I can neatly pile them and put them on display in my living room. I think this will be a good way to store my hats and the boxes will make nice decoration. Other than that the stuff that fits in my closet is in there. The rest is just in piles all over my bedroom. What a mess!

I have my accessories packed away and the dresses hung up in my normal wardrobe in suite/dress bags.
I do think it would be nice having a display case with the powder compacts etc showing but it only means they have to be dusted them it make them also into more a museum which is not what personally am too keen on. it's nice to touch and use
So I think it is justified if you wear or use them then they should be kept and used just like ladies did back in the 40's or 50's. I just think you might as well get pleasure out of using or wearing them.

Decoeyes - their stuff is lovely but they only make them from time to time. They ONLY sell on ebay at the moment (I asked them) and the heads generally go around the $250 mark - though it depends how nice it is. Might be more....

With two young girls running about...my goods are stashed away! My biggest problem right now are shoes (I"ve gotten a little carried away lately  ) and jewlery....I'm REALLY needing something that'll keep my necklaces all nice and plenty of room for it all as well! hmm.... wonder if it's too late to hint for it as a Christmas present?!:p

Well, I have a hard time doing displays, but this is how I sort of set up my jewelry around my dresser on hooks I have to have it out or I'll forget about it and never wear it. I saw some nice branch-like holders at PB Teen that I would prefer to have.

But the dresser was my Great Aunt Lil's and it is part of a four piece set which does include a vanity which a matching mirror, but I don't have the room for it, so I try to combined my dresser to handle both jobs.

And I don't know if you can see it, but I use old martini glasses and wide champagne glasses to hold jewelry.

And as far as storage goes here is the inside of my top dresser drawer which I've kitted out with little boxes for my stuff. Mildly organized, but gets the job done. However, I usually need to straighten stuff out every six months or so.

Miss Dottie I love your dresser, how awesome you have the entire set from your Aunt!!! You are SO organized. The glasses are a great idea. And like you.. I think if I don't have a lot of my things out, I forget to wear them.

Hopefully you'll have room some day for all 4 pieces!
