Disney Robin Hood Twenty...

Just got my Disney, and after a quick Scout cleaning and steaming, it's my first time wearing it. The color is very, very close to my silverbelly Borsalino.

It's in very good shape, with no spotting on the liner, flaking or cracking on the sweatband nor moth damage.

I might fiddle with the bash a bit, but I like the look.

My only complaint is this is one musty smelling hat. I mean, I can smell it across the room. I read where one of us pours baking soda in a sock and sticks it in a plastic bag with the hat. Any other suggestions on what can sweeten the lid?

I've had great luck sprinkling a lot of baking soda all over the hat, letting it sit overnight and then brushing it off, and repeating as necessary. Book dealers sometimes de-stink books by placing them in a covered cardboard box filled with wadded newspaper and relpacing the paper every few days. Might work on hats as well. Also, repeated exposure to fresh, outdoor air has a salutory effect.

The Auto Fabreze is the best. That will kill the smell on a skunk.
The hat looks great by the way. Disney was a good hat manufacturer. I have a few myself.

you bought a good hat . I have a few disneys myself but with stingy brims . They were made in the 1950's . They are great to wear but my wife wants me to throw them out because the brim is too small!!

I have a 1950's Disney and it's a great lid; one of my favorites.
