My Dad was recently interviewed by a Local paper ( local to his childhood home in Caithness) , he talks a bit about how he made the move to London in the 60's the period his book is set in , and how he got started in both clothing.

Ken is an (inter)national treasure. What a great write-up in the Courier, and what amazing tales he has to share of his many adventures. Guy Ritchie ought to pay him a handsome sum for the screen rights to The Cast Iron Certainty and turn it into a film or series.
