D.W. FORMMER Hand welted full Ostrich skin boots with tasteful scroll inlays surrounded by fine switching. Fine stitching at the vamp and uppers joint also. W.D. Frommer was a one-man shop who only made bespoken boots.
I judge these pair to close to 10 D with a small instep. Both boots are close in size. I got my 10 E feet inside but they were too tight at the instep. I have large volume feet with a high instep. When I slowly force my feet in after stretching the boots using spray on leather softener I split the Ostrich skin. I has a good cobbler regule the Ostrich. I have to look close to see the repair but the flaw does affect the collectability of the boot has been taken into account on the price.
I had D. W. make me pair of boots from French Calf 20 year ago, at a cost of $2,600. I knew the quality and hoped this pair would fit me.
In my opinion W.D. is among the best of the best.
D.W. Frommer has made western boots for over forty years. He has had boots displayed by the Cowboy Hall of Fame and has boots on permanent exhibition at the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum in Los Angeles.
