I discovered this whilst passing their store. I was confused to see straps around the wrists. Is that a thing? Could buy a lot of Aeros with that price tag. Was not convinced.

Don't think it was ever done this way but the combination of shearling and cowhide probably make it a good winter jacket.

Hate the split sleeves, though. And at this price range, I would much rather go with Thunder Bay. Or three of them.

The trucker is the nicest of the lot. Not just because it's a trucker. It genuinely looks nice.

What's not to get? It's just a pattern. Truckers are made in other fabrics too, like waxed cotton or corduroy. And many traditional leather jacket patterns are made into fabric jackets, like wool halfbelts and gabardine cross zips. A good pattern can be made into anything. The world of jackets is vast and diverse.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what is being implied here. I personally am very happy to have an option but diversity aside, leather trucker jacket has been around for nearly as long as its cotton brother so I wouldn't say there's any pretending involved.

Ken dated the pattern Aero sell as the Type 3 to 1958, if memory serves. In leather, that is.

The jacket in the op is a combination of various elements from the Irvin, the B3, and civilian jackets. Not to my tastes, but the basic concept is interesting.

Which of them have straps around the wrists?

The one in the op (original post). (Not the trucker jackets).
I made the OP...

I'm asking which of the Irvin, the B3, and civilian jackets have straps around the wrists? I've never seen this on a flight jacket or a civilian jacket. Not sure where it comes from

Ah! Gotcha! They're one of the details I've only seen on civilian jackets before (like the zip-up handwarmer pockets on the sides). Seem to have been a common feature on a lot of the commercial flying jackets in the fashion market in the last few years, but I don't think I've ever seen a military original of any sort with them. Maybe they're intended to echo a trench coat's wrist buckles? Possibly it's a practical manufacturing consideration - these might be cheaper and easier to install than a zip cuff as seen on an Irvin? Of cours,e it may be purely a design choice, and maybe they just wanted to make it distinctly different from any one military design.
