Thanks folks, I'm going to check those out, even though they cost more than what I paid for my jacket lol

When a jacket is sold with belt loops but no belt, then the belt loops are just a design feature and no belt is intended.
No serious maker makes beltless jackets to sell you the belt separately. Also, you are not supposed to wear your pants belt there unless you want to be arrested by the fashion police. (It's something like wearing your sandals with socks).

I asked Eastman leather if they could make a belt for their Roadstar and they said yes....

Hey, andyfalzon, I got your PM to me, showing a couple of jackets featuring belt loops..and no belts available, offered by "The Few Mfg." I don't think I, and many of the other members here, ever doubted that there actually are companies that put belt loops on some jackets just for "effect," with no intention of the wearer ever pulling a belt thru one.
But again, your blanket statement (see post just above) is simply wrong, demonstrably so. I know it and you either should or do know it, as well.
You could probably educate yourself in about ten minutes, as pertains to this particular topic, if you would but choose to do so.
Regards.

I probably shouldn't dive into this paddling pool of goodness but...

If you look at old catalogues - Lost Worlds has a Buco one online, or used to - the jackets with loops seem to be sold with belts. I would guess that jackets intended to be bought by police departments came without belts, because the officers would provide their own...? Therefore I suppose it follows that vaguely 'police' jackets could legitimately be sold without belts. And... might one also surmise that, because the vast majority of bike/police jackets have come adrift from their belts at some point in their lives, the belts themselves are a pain in the arse, serve no essential function and have been lost in pubs, bars or relegated to (ignominiously) holding up trousers? Therefore... it's not unreasonable to imagine that contemporary manufacturers, seeing that belts have more or less universally been jettisoned, have decided not to provide belts with otherwise perfect replicas of old jackets, knowing that no-one really wants them? Seems like a fairly sensible approach to me.

Some 'riders' like belts on their MC jackets..others don't (like me). Thus some MC jacket companies have always offered jackets with belt loops in place for those who might choose an optional belt. Makes good sense to me. You can either or at any time. Better versatility.

Yip. As with so many things, habit and fashion over time saw off the belt, but the belt loops have remained as a stylistic option (I'm reminded of the buttonhole in a suit jacket's lapel). Some repro people sell belts with their jackets, some separately, some not at all. Some folks like belts with their jackets, others don't. I'm mystified as to why anyone should care to object to that, but hey... wouldn't it be a dull world if we were all the same?

Oddly enough, the first couple of suits I bought from Ede and Ravenscroft, the lapel with the button hole had a pair of cotton loops at the back of it, presumably to hold the flower in place. When I bought a third, I noticed that the loops had gone - probably an easy saving, but it made me slightly sad that this had lost part of its intended utility. [huh]

I never even knew they once had straps to hold a flower. How cool! If I ever get a say with a sportcoat designer, I'll fight for the loops on the underside of the lapel- what a fantasic detail!!!!

There has to be a metaphor in that somewhere...

That's why when I ordered my J106 style jacket from Alexander Leathers, I asked that they make a few custom changes for me one of them being that I specified I do not want a belt nor the belt loops. Instead I want 2 side adjusters on either side. I even send them the following photo to show exactly how I wanted those side adjusters. I prefer side adjusters over belts and belt loops. Also asked them not to do a back-swing but to do the yoke and style from their 4-pocket roadster for the upper back panel. Also asked them not to include the little flap pocket in the front but to do 2 slanted handwarmer pockets and a slanted breast pocket.

Mike, those loops are pretty easy to make yourself with just a needle and thread. Plenty of tutorials on line also. Get to work!
