I have been thinking of buying a Cockpit B15 in nylon. My question is about sizing. The sizing tool on there website shows I should purchase a medium. I’m 64 years old and haven’t worn a medium since probably the late 1980s. generally I wear a xtra large sometimes a large. Anyone own one of these jackets who can tell me about their fit. For reference I’m 5’10”, weigh 205.

You don't sound big by any stretch of the imagination. You would have been issued a medium or small on an issued B-15.

You’re right I’m not huge. I am a little overweight for my height though. I just find it hard to believe a medium is what their sizing guide says I should order. I do have a couple of jackets that are size large and my Barbour jackets are size 44. Most of the jackets I own are xtra large or size 46-48.

B15 jackets are very wide. I would suggest the Medium. If it doesn't work, Cockpit takes returns within 30 days as said on their website.

I have flight jackets from other brands, equivalent to medium and small medium in Cockpit sizing, and I am about 20 lbs lighter than you. I think the Cockpit's Medium will fit you like the olive jackets fits me. But the Large will fit bigger than how the blue jacket fits me.

I probably would prefer the way the blue one fits. I like to wear a sweater under my jacket when it gets cold. The other doesn’t look like it would have room for one.

Cockpit will give you the exact garment measurements if you are persistent. It took me 5 emails to get to the point. Basically they didn't have anything with long enough arms for me. So I returned the jacket at my expense. I ended up paying for shipping both ways for a jacket that didn't fit. If they had been upfront about the sleeve length when I was choosing I could have passed and looked elsewhere. They only relented and provided measurements after the item was shipped.
