Mr. Potato Head, as we all know, was introduced in 1952 and Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head have enjoyed great social and monetary success since then, including of course their successful and profitable runs in the Toy Story franchise. Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head always aspired for the high life, and after all of these years, they have achieved it. They now consider themselves more "old money" than "nouveau riche."

Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head had a son, Chuck (but everybody calls him Chip), who married a spud from an old Idaho Family descended from an old French family, Rosemary Lionnaise, and they started a family. Their daughter, Parsley, has grown to an adult tuber, and met the man who is her beau. However, this person is from a middle-class family and doesn't measure up to Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head's desires to move up the social ladder. Worse, this potato, named Russet Limbaugh, is a radio talk show host, not the profession of "old money." This would be a blot on their class distinction!

One day, during a family gathering, Mrs. Potato Head took Parsley aside to try to talk some sense into her and discourage this impending union. After a long conversation and exhausting nearly every argument she had with Parsley, Mrs. Potato Head throws up her arms and tells her granddaughter, "How can you marry this man? He's not part of our circle, he's just a "common tater!"
