Changing my hair colour

Hi, I want to change my hair colour, not drastically but a change in shade. (Its seeing all the lovely reds on here thats clinched it)
At the moment I use a red colourant that lifts my natural hair colour by about 2 shades. I want to use a more vibrant red, probably no lighter, just more vibrant.
How do I do this so that I dont end up with uneven roots and ends? Should I just start using a different colour and hope for the best?

Hi Kerry~
Unfortunately, color with not lighten color. Usuallly, a more vibrant red means a lighter red. Your colored ends would probably have to be lifted with a bleach or color removal solution, but not by much, and then one formula put on your roots and another formula on your ends.

You could try to go more "red", but the color may take on a deeper, more purple red at first.

All that said, depending on how much lighter your ends are than your root color, you might get lucky by just switching colors. Many people seem to have great results with Hot Tamale. http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100663&navAction=jump&navCount=1&id=prod1696440
You might also get hot roots. But that can be fixed if you want to chance it.

I couldn't find Hot Tamale in Boots or Superdrug today, do any of the Uk ladies know if it is sold in the Uk?

Or can anyone suggest another similar colour?

I doubt it as no one would know what a Tamale is! I thought Watermelon Red might be what you are looking for - I use Nutrisse myself, but a darker red - Morello Cherry.

Might actually be brighter than Hot Tamale!

One thing I like to use is L'oreal's Color Pulse. It's a temporary color that comes in a mini mousse can, and depending on how often you wash your hair, it can last 1 week or fade out within 4 weeks. I use it because I have to lighten my hair so much and the root color is always darker (at first) than the rest of the hair. I don't like to mess around with multiple steps, I'm lazy! But I love this Loreal Color Pulse, because it gives me the opportunity to control the vibrancy of my red, (more orange, more true red) and it adds shine and is conditioning! So I only use permanent on the roots, and this stuff all over.

It's worth a try before you have to go through the hassle of lightening what you got and doing a whole new color.

I have the best luck finding it at Longs.

Thanks Red, I will see if I can find something similar in the uk.
Thanks Fleur, I did spot the Watermelon red in boots, Im worried it may be a little too dark. I have to be careful now as dark colours make me look older

Your welcome! And I almost forgot! You can also occasionally find it on ebay. If you go to Loreal's site, they show all the colors they have. Sometimes I can get them on ebay for cheaper including the shipping than I would at the store! Good Luck!
