Can vintage Borsalino rollup hat be reblocked and reshaped? Help needed

So for nearly solid 8 years I have been looking for a Borsalino roll up vintage hat in my size 7.5 and have never been able to find one even close. Almost all of them are smaller in sizes.

Now I have been long thinking of an outlandish idea that I am not sure will work and sounds downright silly honestly but I HAVE to ask experts here.

A lot of Borsalino rollups without hatbands and linings show up at vintage shops and Ebay in various sizes nearly 10 times more than the ribbon version I am after. Most of them are for women I guess such as this one below. So my question is this

Can this be treated as an unblocked felt and be turned into a men’s borsalino rollup (assuming this has a women's shape to it and I don’t know what that is :eeek:). Can this be treated as a felt "body" and a professional hatter like Art or Penman or Graham can turn this into the version I am after?

see this http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?16185-Vintage-Rollable-borsalino

this below from the thread above was listed as a womens hat as well. That is what I am actually after.

OR this is a lost cause already for reasons I am unaware of? Please do list them such as inherent shape related problems that may arise or whatever. I will not be changing the size much if at all. Just trying to put a hatband on it and perhaps give it some shape to not look like women’s hat and thereby looking idiotic wearing it lol!

Kindly help me out

Regards

P.S If this has been addressed before please direct me to the thread or the post. I couldn't find it in searches

I used one of these to make a hat for alyce from the hat museum. It was a small body so I used it to make her a gift. It wasn't very large so I could only get so much from it.

Oh man!!! Oak that is beautiful. I have always admired your work Indy related or otherwise.

May I PM you for a possible project about this?

regards

Sure thing.

I made that just to work with that body. It a satin finish and alyce just looks great in it. I left it open crown and the brim up turned to let her shape it the way she wanted. She just snapped the brim down and that's it. I think she looks great in every hat I seen her wear.
