C. R. Anthony

Anyone here with some knowledge about hats made by/for C. R. Anthony? I now that they went out of business in 1997 (they were actually merged with Stage Stores), and it's hard to find any info.

The hat in question does look pretty nice and seems to be made from a very fine, velour-like felt. Judging by the liner (and the design of the logo - it looks different from the one they used before the merger), I'd think it was made in the 70s or even 80s...? Any ideas?

CR Anthony Hats

I just acquired a Anthony western style hat with the same logo. It was an estate find and executor indicated the original owner had purchased sometime during the 70's. They also commented that Anthony hats were furnished under private label by Resistol or one of their associated companies. I have done some limited research and since there is no way to confirm, would take this with a grain of salt. Still a nice hat!

I grew up patronizing C.R. Anthony's stores in Oklahoma, but don't have any idea about the date of your hat (which looks sharp, btw).

I always thought Anthony's was a local chain, but what I based that on, I don't know. I wonder if perhaps their reach extended outside the Sooner State.
