Can anyone out there advise on size & fit?

Looking at one on ebay tagged a Medium, but the BR website advises a medium is 36/38 - which seems kind of small. I am a 40 in most things, which I would consider to be an M, but in BR land a 40 is a large.

thanks in advance

I have the BR N-1 in Large and am a 40 chest. It fits fine and I certainly wouldn't go smaller. It's a great jacket.

Check out HPA's website: LINK. They've got several different deck jackets listed and have actual measurements for each (click on each jacket then the "Product Measurements" tab at the top of the jacket page).

thanks guys - if anyone cares to offer up opinions on the various brands of N1 I'm listening……BR, RM, IH etc I recently purchased a Japanese repro in navy blue, but its on the large size fit wise and I am hankering for one in khaki or olive. The Mister Freedom version looks sweet but its expensive!

thanks zhz - I have blue one already, I think the brand is Houston. I have just noticed that Aero have Pike Bros N1's in stock so I am going to do the old fashioned thing and go and try one on for size.

Please note that for RM, the Navy, the Khaki and the Olive all have different cut. The Navy is a slimmer cut with longer sleeves and body length whilst the Khaki has wider body and shoulder width.

I have the khaki BR N-1 in a size XXL and I usually wear a size 46 (Long) in an A-2 and the XXL fits me perfect with a bit of room for a sweater. GREAT jacket!

my Houston N1 was quite cheap and is very warm & good quality - tagged as a 40", but it feels quite big. Looking for something with a slimmer profile. As ever its down to fit - and I just can't pull the trigger on something expensive without trying on first or with the option of a return if it doesn't fit right. Next stop is Aero to try on a Pike Bros N1 in size small.
