I was in a market in Budapest, and a lady took a picture of me with a very professional looking camera (it had a lens that seemed a foot long) and then said in faltering english that she took the picture because of my hat, and generally my outfit.

So, my question is this: is anyone familiar with Hungarian street style blogs or magazines? Because I might be in one right now.

on another note, have you been to the new york kavehaz yet?! :D

I did not get to go. I was only there for a short period of time, and most of that was taken up in rehearsals.
However, I did go to a great restaurant called Füllemülle (or Nachtigal or Nightingale, depending on what language you feel like using, but Füllemülle is on the door) in the Jewish part of town, because our meals were provided there. It is a fantastic place, and the people running it are great.

Did you catch any sightings of vintage-dressed individuals there, Yeps? When I travel I always hope I'll see someone.

Not really, but I did see some rather well dressed older gentlemen, most sporting linen jackets a lot like mine, and found a nice antique shop with a couple of bowlers in it (I didn't buy one because it was the wrong size, later I realized that I should have picked it up and sold it here. Oh well.)

Oh, too bad! But at least you didn't have to worry about getting it home without someone sitting on it!

Budapesters have some funky style, but it seems to be 100 per cent youthful. I wonder what they do once they pass 40.

Tom, I always considered Hungarian women some of the most beautiful anywhere (and the links argue in their favor), but someone told me "they go from 25 to 45 overnight." Tell me, please, that it isn't true.

Well, as far as I saw, the men grow fantastic moustaches, and dress conservatively as they age.

Fletch,

I adore Hungarian women and women in general. Don't smoke don't drink - there must be a vice.... Sometimes it is too much of beauty. Especially when the spring blows away all the winter wardrobes.
Women are lately waaay better dressed than it was the norm before 1989. Access to better cosmetics etc. and often it is only the own beauty they have as a chance to secure a better life. Both 25 and 45 women can be great, trust me.
However less income, more stress, harder life than it is the norm in the "West" leave their mark.
But then we have the beauties.

Cheerio:

Tom
