"Bristol" - 50's hat from Germany?

This hat - found at a German second hand store - is a bit mysterious.
It has no markings other than the "Bristol"-Scroll on the leather.

I presume by the style and proportions that it dates to the late 40-50's.

Is it British or German with a pseudo-British label?

Anyone ever heard of this name?

The wind-trolley + ribbon are replacements (from Borsalino).

Yes - it is quite a lovely color - dusty camel I'd call it.
The photos in the first post show the true color - it is not grey.

10 cm crown front (creased) and 6 cm brim.

It is cleaned and perfectly wearable.
I restored/steamed it (leaving the original crown shape) as it was quite beaten up.
Two tiny pinholes have been repaired (textile glue mixed with carefully shaved fuzz from the inside) - they are invisible.
The seam of the sweatband was also damaged and a narrow strip of brown cotton ribbon has been used to repair it.

Great as a beater.

My guess is it is from a German maker and mid to later 1950s. Bristol could be a model or a brand name. I have some with Anglo names and no identifying marks. One that pops up frequently is Windsor which is a brand but not sure what company made them.

Actually Mayser made a "Bristol" model in the 1960s. It's not related but it shows that such names were used. Yes the ribbon is original!
