Brent Black Montecristi Toquilla Straw 7-1/8

This is a beautiful "Aficionado" by Brent Black with Montecristi hand-woven Paja Toquilla (straw). Too small for me, I size it at 7-1/8.

The Aficionado starts at $550 new, but at 24 x 24 (576 wpsi) I'm thinking this one sold for more than that. I'm posting this here at $325 plus shipping to your address.

The brim is 3-1/4" at the front, 2-3/4" on the sides, and 2-5/8" at the back. The sides and back have a brim curl, but the front brim is straight.

This handmade Montecristi is in excellent, as new, condition. It will be shipped in the original Brent Black box packed inside of a carboard shipping box. I generally ship boxes of this size and weight USPS ground, insured for full value. I'm in Oregon so expect shipping to the east coast to run $25-$30.

My best measurement puts this at 7-5/8" front to back, and 6-5/8" side to side. If either of those measurements are too small for you, then the hat may be too small. Please check with someone who works with Panama hats to see how much is possible for hat stretching a Panama straw. I only know it it not possible to bump up to about 23-3/8", which is my size.

The online calculator I use puts this at 22.438" which would put it between a size 7-1/8 (22-1/4", or 22.25") and size 7-1/4 (22-5/8", or 22.625").

My best answer is maybe.

EXCEPT.... didn't you tell me yesterday your size in inches is 22-7/8"? That would put you between a size 7-1/4 and 7-3/8... and about .4362" too big for this hat.

It depends on the maker. The Stetson size chart is different. 23" is 7-1/4. I don't understand why a consensus can not be made!

What happens when it gets wet? I use my hats all the time outside.

It is for summer, nice hot dry days. Felt hats are for the winter rain. To keep this one in the pristine condition, stay out of downpours.

Getting it wet will cause it to lose its shape and will need to be reblocked. Trust us on this one. These fine straws are not workhorse hats.
