Hi,
I'm new & would like to introduce myself!
Been browsing this wonderful site that came up many times in my searches to learn more about vintage clothing. Pendleton (so warm), Harris Tweed (have a coat)etc
I have been unable to locate anything on this camel hair 3/4 coat I have.
It's labeled Billy Lewis, Dayton.
Its a women's coat and I was told it was an upscale shop.
I think its vintage & just trying to know more about the store it came from and perhaps better date it.
Has what appears to be wooden buttons or they are plastic or bakelite simulation.
The hem, lining and even label were handstitched on. It's really a classic belted trench style so hard to date. Big lapel with buttoned front patch pockets at hip & vent in back. Very light unconstructed padding at shoulders.
Anyway, if anyone has ever heard of Billy Lewis designer or dept store in Dayton I'd appreciate your comments.
Just love vintage items as the quality of cloth & construction was so nice...
Thanks!
Have a great day!
