Watch ebay over next few weeks, a guy in CA is having a person sell his Aero/Eastman/Goodwear/BillKelso and maybe Langlitz coats/jackets sized at 48 all at about 50% retail pricing. I bought one and it was in euc.

You could also order the exact color weight HH leather you want from either LW or Horween and Vanson will use it to make the exact coat you want from their production line..

As someone on this forum once pointed out, denim jeans were originally miner pants.
If you wear jeans and are not a miner, you're a poseur. Or not. It's just a style and
a nod to the past. I'll be driving my car to the supermarket in one of my d-pocket
horsehide Johnson Leathers jackets and jeans in about a half hour. I'll probably put
on work boots, too.

Great retro and classy look for a non-biker wearing a biker jacket. I ride a motorcycle, but in the UK, we tend to use CE protectors for proper bike jackets. A brown hh biker style jacket is really in.

I love the worn gaucho brown look - taken years to acquire for my jacket. Good choice

I understand that the same way that when I wear my fedora, some wise ass always asks me where the Ark of the Covenant is, when I wear my B-3 they ask where I parked the Memphis Belle, so there will be some that ask you what you ride, and if you answered any bike but Harley, they would sneer. But that type of person is few and far between, and if you're wearing a D pocket jacket/Perfecto style, it's got enough cultural symbolism to be worn in its own right IMHO.

Get it in black, in heavy horsehide, and after a few years of wear, it'll look like a vintage classic, and bike or no bike, everyone will admire your taste.

So very few people care whether you ride or not (and that's of the few who even recognise it as a motorcycle jacket), it's really not worth worrying about the few idiots who do and would comment negatively. FWIW, I've been wearing Perfecto style jackets, on and off, since December 1990, and never once has anyone made a wisecrack about a bike. Throw on an Irvin, and two minutes out the door somebody will be guaranteed to mention planes, so. [huh] Stick what others think. Wear what pleases you.

Absolutely agree. In fact, if you look at women's fashion, Perfecto style jackets have been around for so many years for ladies, and do they ride? Who cares!

I have a licence but my beloved ones just do not allow me to ride. But in the UK, motorcyclists do not wear these jackets, because like some of you have mentioned, the new generation jackets/pants just offer much better protection and waterproof-ness with the CE amours. Bikers who wear classic biker jackets are usually weekend riders just to show off their nice cafe racers or Harleys. People do not associate Perfecto style jackets with bikers that often anymore. It is also ironical that the general public in the UK associate Belstaff (or Barbour) with bikers more because of their sponsoring campaigns with Hairy Bikers, Top Gear, Long Way Round/Down series (and David Beckham).

As I, and others have said so many times before; Doesn't matter if ride or not - in this day and age, wearing a Perfecto, be it the Wild One style, one of the Buco's, Sears Hercules, etc., is a fashion statement, no matter how you look at it. It's just not a proper motorcycling jacket no more, just as a B1 is no longer a proper fighter plane jacket, and it does not - or rather, should not - necessarily imply that you're a motorcyclist.

In short, all the guys (and gals) who are wearing the Perfecto styled jackets on their bikes are wearing it for the exact same reason you want to wear it. You can trust me on this. I'm one of 'em. Any biker wearing the thing is just playing out his own nostalgic biker thing role himself.
I ride and I know I wear mine because of the look. No point in trying to delude myself into justifying a sad fact that I've thrown more money into leather jackets than I have into my motorcycle. . .

So don't worry about it. Buy the jacket and wear it proudly. It's a cool jacket. Coolest one money can buy.

As a kid, growing up in NYC, I dreamt of owning a nice leather jacket, but could never afford one. Now, that my 44th birthday is approaching, I've been tinkering with the idea of purchasing a custom horsehide "biker" jacket - size 48. It's either that or a nice timepiece =) I don't ride a motorcycle -- but I'm captivated by the nostalgic look of biker jackets. The LOSTWORLDS' "Speed Demon" has caught my eye. Do you guys/gals think it's tacky to wear a biker style jacket, if one doesn't ride? Your input is appreciated.

I've always wanted a classic bike jacket (since I had a cheap fake leather one when I was 8) but never got round to buying one. If you feel good wearing one, go for it (I want to shed a few pounds first so might never make it!). Like others have said, you're always likely to get a few comments wearing something like this or a flight jacket but who cares. I've ridden for over 20 years and have recently got a new cruiser style bike - if I got a new bike jacket too, I reckon I'd be classed as a weekend rider / poseur but so what. I've never bothered with all the specialist armoured stuff even though I probably should.

That should be one great jacket. And don't forget, you can tie a sharp knife to the end of a long pole and go feral-hog hunting while wearing it!!

I can't speak for the rest of the people here, but I flew fighters in WWII and WWI, plus Korea and Desert Storm, plus I've been to the moon (twice).
