Onedin Line

I don't know what jogged my memory, but suddenly I remembered the theme from that great BBC series of many years ago, "The Onedin Line". All strings playing a very dramatic theme, a little like Khachaturian's Spartacus.

I always liked the Jello theme to the Jack Benny radio show. In fact, I still sing (far too loudly) every time I pass it in the grocery aisle ... "J-E-L-L-O! Its the Jack Benny Show ... starring that pinnacle of penny pinching ... Jack Benny!"

I agree with almost every single suggestion already made (especially Prisoner, The Sweeney, and Barney Miller), and raise you one forgotten gem:

"If You Won't Leave Me I'll Find Somebody Who Will," the Warren Zevon-penned theme to the 1993 revival of "Route 66".

Greatest American Hero,and Duke's of Hazzard with GAH being my favorite of the two Also Gunsmoke, the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers tv show...(even the closing theme "Happy trails to you, until we meet again.....".

Hawaii 5-0, Twilight Zone, Where the Action Is (60s Dance Show), Crime Story (one of the best crime shows ever), Dragnet (exact opposite of Crime Story), The Lone Ranger, The Jack Benny Program (Love in Bloom), Happy Days (first season), The Addams Family, Felix the Cat (well, maybe...), Secret Agent (my paisano, Johnny "Ramastella" Rivers' version), Hogan's Heroes, Highway Patrol (from what I recall ), and a special mention for...What's Happening! (Henry Mancini).

Holy crap how do you do that because I must have it!

(My wife downloaded for me "Boss Boogie" from the Wolfe Pack site, so I have it, at least - unless you've got a better version you want to sharesies with a fellow Stout-lover...)

As a side note, I have both the theme from "Dragnet" and "Bad Boys" from COPS on a special playlist on my ZUNE, for when I get pulled over. I actually played it (low) the last time I got pulled over, last year. I got off with a warning, but I doubt very seriously it had anything to do with the music... lol

Fridays during the summer I wear some sort of Haiwaiian-style shirt to work, and I just can't help playing the "Magnum, P.I." theme at high volume when I pull into the parking garage. (Not that my 2004 Honda Civic LX resembles a Ferarri in any way, shape, or form - it's the point that counts. )
