My neck is just about 3" long (give or take a few centimeters),and I'm debating as to which collar would be best.

Collar 1: 1 1/2"

Collar 2: 2 14"

I'm leaning towards the 2 1/4" model,as I think it would look better, and I can deal with the discomfort, but I'd like opinions before I commit to anything.

I'm definitely not an expert on men's clothes, but to me, a short neck looks better with a short collar.

If you wear #2, will you be able to look down or nod your head?

If you can pull off the taller collar comfortably, go for it. It will really stand out and looks much more elegant.

Can I ask where you buy these (and the collar-less shirt)?

I actually own the number 1 but am opting for a number 2. The number 1 won't inhibit any movement but doesn't look nearly as old-school as the number 2. If you want something more practical, however, I'd go for 1.

I agree with this.

As I said in another thread, I own the second collar. My neck is about average hight and I was still able to wear it quite well (maybe not comfortably).

It looks infinitely better than the shorter one.

My neck is of about average length, and I was comfortable in it. It definitely makes turning one's head more difficult, but I wasn't trying to do calisthenics in my white-tie rig.

Only once, so far. I was in a good friend's wedding back in July, and we all wore white tie. I fear I may never have another opportunity, though I hope that isn't true. I also own full morning dress, which I haven't had a chance to wear since my wedding nearly two years ago.

Number two really looks great! If I had the money, and the occasion, I'd stick with that #2 and something real sharp (as I'm sure you will with a collar like that). :eusa_clap

Orgetorix, I too have full morning dress and White tie, both vintage, and wore my white tie ensemble for my wedding. Like you (and many others here) I may have to create my own excuse to don them again. I might make my upcoming significant birthday white tie! If I do you are more than welcome to come down under with yours!

Cheers
