Most of you will have seen the film, if you ever wondered exactly how the plotting system from the Chain Low radar stations to the Group Headquarters worked, then here is an interesting little wikipedia article I just ran into: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dowding_system

The command and control structure of Fighter Command was arguably the decisive factor in their ability to marshal forces in the most effective manner according to raids. Just a small correction, the RDF network included both Chain Home and Chain Home Low, and the CHL stations were less in number than the CH stations. CHL was also slightly less effective than CH due to the increased interference at lower altitudes from geographical terrain, climatic conditions (fog banks, etc).
