Atlas briefcases. Anyone know their history?

Can someone please explain to me how to identify the age and country of origin of these briefcases. I've noticed that some have swivel latches holding the organizers (pallets) in while others seemed to riveted. I've also read that before Atlas closed shop, their cases were being manufactured in a lone Domincan Republic factory along with other brand names such as Korchmar. It also appears that while the newer cases have "USA" embossed on them, that doesn't mean they were made in the USA.
