Anybody have Chippewa Black Bomber boots?

I'm looking to buy a new pair of dark brown engineer boots and the Chippewa Black Bombers caught my eye. I've already got a pair of Frye Brando's which I really like, but they get a little uncomfortable after a full day of work. I've worn the Chippewa Katahdin boots before and didn't have that problem with them, so was thinking about giving these a try. Anybody out there have any experience with them? How does their comfort level compare? Are they actually dark brown, and what is the leather like on them? It is really hard to tell from the internet stock pics.

Thank you!

I didn't realize that mine were called black bombers but after looking them up they appear to be the same boot. I've had this pair of Chippewa's for a couple years, excellent boot, but I would consider ordering 1/2 size up to get a nice comfortable insole in there. I put the superfeet insoles in my boots and I wear them everywhere, on the bike and off from fall through winter, and just on the bike in the spring and summer. They break in and look and feel great. As for comfort, I mean they are a pretty spartan boot, free of liners and soft cushy soles. More sturdy than comfortable. Without the superfeet insoles I would say they are borderline unwearable they hurt my feet so bad.

The leather is high quality and well oiled, they break right in and stay looking good with nothing but a routine cleaning every now and again. My boots are black so I don't know about the brown, sorry.

The only better Engineer boot are Wesco's but they are very expensive.

Thank you for the info. Sounds to me like you might have what they call the "Black Odessa" boot. Good advice about the insoles-- my Katahdin boots came with amazing insoles, so good in fact that they have made it into several pairs of my shoes and boots. I need to contact L.L. Bean and see if they will sell me a few pairs of the insoles...

Anybody have any pics of these black bombers after they have been worn/broken-in?

My chip engineer boots were narrow in the toe box, I sent them back for a wider size and I never take wide sizes. I agree the fit is a little odd on them.
They are a little narrow above the toe box and would pinch when I would walk. Otherwise true to size but hey I can't wear them. Got Sendras that I love but a little snug, the Wescos have plenty of room. John

Thanks again for the responses. My Katahdins are 10.5 D and are just a tiny bit tight in the toes-- not enough to really notice unless you're thinking about it, but I was planning on getting 10.5 EE in these just in case. Anybody have both who can compare the fit? I wish I could find pictures of actual 27921's, as online they look like everything from black to brown to charcoal grey...
